Increase in Tariffs for Passage through the Bosphorus and Dardanelles
Starting from July 1, vessels passing through the Bosphorus and Dardanelles without stopping will be charged a tariff of $5.07 per ton. This decision was announced by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey. Previously, the fee for passage through these straits was fixed at $0.8 since 1983. However, in 2022 it was increased to $4.08, and then to $4.42 in 2023. The new tariff is set to be indexed annually, aiming to boost foreign currency revenues for the country’s treasury.
