A tragedy occurred in the evening of July 15 in the city of Okhtyrka, Sumy region, as reported by RegioNews citing the police press service.
The driver of a car ran over a child who was playing near the yard and then fled the scene. The 6-year-old boy died from the injuries.
Police managed to locate the car and its driver. The driver was arrested. The man showed signs of alcohol intoxication, so he was taken to a medical facility for a proper examination. A criminal case has been initiated in connection with this incident. The detainee faces up to 10 years in prison.
