Currently, one of the «powerful breakthroughs» of the Russian army is taking place at Chasoviy Yar in the Donetsk region. This was stated by the spokesman of the press service of the operational-strategic group of Horytsya troops, Ilya Yevlash, on Radio Liberty.
According to him, Russian troops consider this settlement as key to continue advancing on Konstantinovka and Kramatorsk-Sloviansk agglomeration.
«The enemy does not spare its efforts, tries to take advantage of the moment — for quite a long time uses the tactic of «run where the water flows», looks for weak spots. And at the slightest opportunity, strengthens its groups and takes assault actions,» emphasized Yevlash.
He added that several circular defenses have been built near Chasoviy Yar. In this direction, there are also minefields — both anti-tank and anti-personnel, embankments and anti-tank barriers to impede the movement of heavy Russian army equipment.
«We have been preparing to defend Chasoviy Yar for a long time, even when the enemy was able to capture Bakhmut. It was clear that it was necessary to arrange additional defense lines, more advantageous. Since Chasoviy Yar was the largest next settlement in this direction,» Yevlash said.
He added that the Russian army is trying to find weak spots, and in those areas of the front where they manage to break through, Russian military intensify assault actions. According to Yevlash, they mainly carry out attacks from mortars, and also increase the use of aviation.
In the past few days on the Bakhmut direction, the enemy used its aviation six times, also made 52 strikes with its kamikaze drones, shelled our positions 659 times. There were also four armed clashes, during which the enemy lost 100 of its occupants killed and wounded, as well as 101 units of weapons and equipment.
