After the recent shelling of Pokrovsk by Russian forces, during which civilians were injured and the office of «Doctors Without Borders» was destroyed, the organization’s activities were temporarily suspended in the region. Currently, «Doctors Without Borders» are resuming the operation of mobile clinics in the Donetsk region, the organization’s press service reported.
Mobile Clinics in Affected Areas
Since the escalation of the war in February 2022, teams have been organizing mobile clinics in the most affected areas. «Doctors Without Borders» are working with mobile clinics in 100 villages near the front line in the Donetsk, Kherson, and Kharkiv regions. These clinics usually include psychotherapists, psychologists, doctors, and social workers.
Continuous Emergency Medical Support
During the suspension of certain activities of «Doctors Without Borders» in Donetsk, the work of emergency medical teams continued without interruption. In the last five days, emergency vehicles have transported 169 patients between different hospitals in various communities.
Supporting Hospitals and Training Medical Personnel
In the Donetsk region, the organization also continued to support hospitals. Assistance was provided in the intensive care and intensive therapy departments of state medical institutions during mass shelling, when a large number of wounded arrive. In hospitals in Konstantinovka, Kramatorsk, and Izium, «Doctors Without Borders» conduct training for the medical personnel of the Ministry of Health, who work near the front line.
Providing Support in Multiple Regions
The teams of «Doctors Without Borders» provide support to those who need it most. Currently, the organization is working in the Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Donetsk regions.
