A scandal rocks the «Trust Matters» faction in Odessa once again

A scandal threatens the «Trust Matters» faction once again in Odessa: deputy Oleksandr Matveyev is under the scrutiny of law enforcement, which could weaken the position of Trukhanov’s supporters in the city council.

Matveyev faces scrutiny from Security Service of Ukraine

According to sources in the city hall, Matveyev will likely miss the session on April 24 due to problems with the Security Service of Ukraine. The SBU became interested in a real estate scheme involving Matveyev’s purchase of a small area with a large attic in the center of Odessa, which he essentially “privatized”. Attempts to resolve the issue ended with a demand for a sum far exceeding his expectations.

Impact on the «Trust Matters» faction

«It is highly likely that Matveyev will not appear at the upcoming session, and the ‘Trust Matters’ faction will remain weakened. Considering that in previous sessions some issues did not pass due to the absence of one or two votes, Matveyev’s absence may cause additional problems for the faction,» our interlocutor noted.
