The preliminary investigation of the death of a mobilized man with disabilities in the Odessa region is currently underway, announced Natalia Humenyuk, head of the Unified Coordinating Press Center of the Armed Forces of Southern Ukraine during a telethon.
«The Armed Forces are not interested in having individuals with inadequate health conditions in service. They will be unable to perform combat tasks. No commander is interested in this, of course. However, the decision on mobilization and conscription is made based on the relevant documents,» she said.
Humenyuk stated that the ongoing preliminary investigation clearly identified two main aspects: failure to undergo proper medical examination before conscription and low-quality assistance provided during the incident. She noted that the Unified Coordinating Press Center relied on the relevant documents, according to which the deceased underwent a medical examination at the medical institution near his place of residence.
«By the way, I would like to point out that military medical commissions, which determine the fitness of conscripts for service, are organized and operate based on local government authorities in such cases. So, after passing the commission, he provided the Unified Coordinating Press Center with documents stating that he was healthy and fit. The mobilization center does not have specialists capable of determining the degree of fitness or the health of a citizen,» emphasized the head of the Unified Coordinating Press Center of the Armed Forces of the South.
