The State Bureau of Investigation has announced that it has completed the investigation into seven officials and employees of the Poltava Mining and Enrichment Plant (Poltava GZK). According to the investigation, the plant’s management carried out illegal sales of mineral raw materials totaling nearly 80 million hryvnias from 2019 to 2021 without the necessary permits for subsoil use.
The SBI reports that the raw materials were resold at higher prices through enterprises involved in the scheme, including crushed stone made from quarry waste. Law enforcement authorities estimate that the illegal income amounted to over 370 million hryvnias.
The materials of the criminal case have been made available for review to the suspects and their lawyers. If found guilty by the court, the defendants may face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
