Ukrainian Armed Forces to Remain on Defensive Until January 2025
According to Western and US officials’ assessments, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are planning to remain on the defensive for the next six months, until January 2025. This was reported by TSN referring to a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) published on the Contracts.UA website.
American analysts note that Ukrainian forces are already conducting limited counterattacks in certain areas of the front, although they mainly remain on the defensive, hoping for support from the West. They also emphasize the need to form new brigades that require effective armament and support for a successful counteroffensive operation.
«At the moment, Russian forces are unable to achieve significant success in military operations in Ukraine. Putin’s strategy is focused on steady advancement rather than operational maneuvers, which is important for his army,» the ISW believes.
Analysts also underline that the success of Ukraine’s future counteroffensive operation depends on technology exchange and security expertise support from Western countries.
