The Verkhovna Rada Adopts Bill Amending Law on National Guard

The Verkhovna Rada has adopted in the first reading a bill amending the Law «On the National Guard of Ukraine». This draft law №10311 is aimed at improving the legal framework for the use of coercive measures by National Guard servicemen.

The bill regulates issues related to the use of coercive measures by National Guard servicemen, such as physical force, special means, weapons, armament, and combat vehicles. According to the document, National Guard servicemen have the right to use and apply such coercive measures to ensure personal and/or public safety, stop violations of law, and detain offenders.

In particular, they may use physical force, special means, weapons, armament, and combat equipment, as well as apply means to forcibly stop vehicles in certain situations. The bill also establishes cases when any coercive measures are prohibited, including towards pregnant women, elderly persons, and minors.

After the bill is adopted in the second reading, its final adoption will take place, which will set new rules for the National Guard and ensure security in Ukraine.
