Former Chief Doctor Accused of Unjustified Payments
The former chief doctor of a local medical institution in Poltava is facing accusations of making almost 4.8 million hryvnias in unjustified payments to the medical staff. The Poltava Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that the Lubenska District Prosecutor’s Office has sent an indictment to court against the chief doctor, charging them with negligence.
According to the investigation, the chief doctor failed to conduct necessary checks to verify the legality of salary supplements to doctors, specialists, and nurses of the hospital during the period of January-March 2021. This resulted in almost 4.8 million hryvnias being received by the medical staff without justification from the state budget. The prosecutor’s office is demanding the return of the funds from the accused.
The former chief doctor is also accused of misappropriation of someone else’s property through abuse of office and intentional use of their position to obtain unlawful benefits. The trial of this criminal case is currently ongoing in the Lubenska City District Court.
