History of «Cherkasy Monkeys-96»
On October 1, 2007, the team «Cherkasy Monkeys-96» was born, consisting of young athletes from Cherkasy schools born in 1996. The first head coach was Oleksandr Molchanov, later joined by Maxim Mikhelson from Kryvyi Rih.
In their debut season 2007-2008, the team won silver medals, with Mikhelson being recognized as the best coach in their age group. The following season 2008-2009, «Cherkasy Monkeys-96» repeated their success by once again winning silver.
In the 2009-2010 season, the team became champions of the VYBL for the first time, repeating this success three more times in the following seasons. In the fall of 2011, Mikhelson and the team participated in the TORNEO CADETE VILLA DE LA OROTAVA international tournament in the Spanish Pyrenees.
The year 2012 was significant for «Cherkasy Monkeys-96,» achieving fifth place in the EYBL Superfinal and key players participating in international competitions with the Ukrainian national team.
