In Dergachi, a suburb of Kharkiv, a group of teenagers caused real chaos at a children’s playground. The incident occurred on April 10, when a video appeared on social media showing young people setting fire to and destroying play equipment.

Damage and Response

During the inspection of the area, serious damage was found: vandals not only set fire to the playground located in the courtyard of Dergachi Lyceum No. 3, but also broke benches and other play structures. Thanks to the prompt actions of concerned citizens, the fire was quickly extinguished.

The Department of Education, Culture, Youth, and Sports of the Dergachi City Council, after drawing up an act of vandalism, filed a report with the police. Law enforcement officers have already identified individuals involved in the crime. They and their parents face administrative responsibility.

Alcohol Abuse

Empty alcohol bottles and cigarette butts were also found at the scene, indicating alcohol abuse.

The city authorities urge residents to document cases of vandalism, damage to public property, and remnants after such actions in photos and videos, as well as to publish them on social media to publicly condemn the perpetrators.
