Repair of roads and sidewalks in Kharkiv resulted in a loss of 600 thousand UAH for the contractor

Subcontractor Convicted for Damages in Kharkiv

A subcontractor who carried out road and sidewalk repairs in Kharkiv was convicted with damages.

According to the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, in 2019, a contract was signed between the local government body and the subcontractor for the capital repair of intra-quarter roads and sidewalks in the Industrial district of Kharkiv — on Dvynadtsyatoho Kvitnya Street.

However, law enforcement officials stated that the subcontractor violated the terms of the contract — the cost and volume of the work actually performed did not correspond to the order. As a result, the budget of Kharkiv suffered damages amounting to almost 600 thousand UAH.

Therefore, the prosecutor’s office filed a lawsuit. However, the court of first instance did not satisfy it.

Subsequently, law enforcement officials appealed. The appellate commercial court supported the position of the prosecutor’s office and ordered the subcontractor to pay the damages.
