Prosthetic Compensation in Ukraine

Prosthetic compensation is available both in Ukraine and abroad in cases where the necessary means are not available in our country. In Ukraine, a prosthesis can be obtained free of charge under a state program implemented by the Fund for Social Protection of Persons with Disabilities. Priority prosthetics are provided to military personnel who defended the Motherland.

Who is Entitled to Free Prosthetic Care?

The Coordination Center for the provision of free legal assistance explained who is entitled to free prosthetic care:

  • servicemen of the Armed Forces, National Guard, Security Service of Ukraine, and more;
  • employees of units providing operational support, police, State Emergency Service, and other services;
  • participants of volunteer formations who defended the independence of Ukraine.

Frequency of Free Prosthetic Care

The frequency of free prosthetic care depends on the type of limb:

  • once every five years for an upper limb;
  • once every six years for a lower limb;
  • twice a year for liner replacements.

Financial Assistance

Financial assistance includes covering the costs of prosthetics, orthotics, and other necessary services, including expenses for stays abroad if necessary.
