A Family of Lions Find a New Home in Britain

A family of lions evacuated from war-torn Donbass has found a new home in Britain. In March, Aisa and her three cubs — Emi, Santa, and Teddy — arrived at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park, BBC Ukraine reports.

Previously, they had spent nine months in a shelter in Poland, where the cubs were separated from their mother and not allowed to go outside.

Park staff say it was very emotional to see the family finally reunited.

Colin Northcott, who is responsible for predators at Yorkshire Wildlife Park, visited Poland earlier this year to organize the transfer of the Ukrainian lions, who were affected by the war. Although the animals arrived in South Yorkshire in March, they have been undergoing rehabilitation over the past two months.

According to Northcott, «they have adapted incredibly quickly.» At first, they were understandably nervous, but after exploring their new surroundings, they separated and no longer stuck together. Now the animals look very confident and will surely delight visitors.
