The Ukrainian women’s handball team secures a spot in Euro 2024

The Ukrainian women’s handball team has secured a place in the Euro 2024 after a draw against the Slovakian team. According to RBK-Ukraine, the Ukrainian handball players finished the qualification tournament in second place in Group 2.

In the match against Slovakia, the «blue-yellow» team managed to stabilize their position before halftime, although the Slovakian handball players had a significant advantage in the first half. As a result, the first half ended in favor of the Slovak team with a score of 15:13. In the second half, the Ukrainian players continued to keep up, and at the end of the match, they were able to equalize the score.

Thus, Ukraine scored 7 points and took second place in the group, only behind the German team. Slovakia also qualified for the tournament, finishing third and becoming one of the four best third-placed teams in the qualification.

For the Ukrainian team, Euro 2024 will be the first championship after 2014. Ukrainian women’s handball has participated in eleven European championships, with their best result remaining the «silver» in Euro 2000. The upcoming tournament will be hosted by Austria, Hungary, and Switzerland.
