The Security Service of Ukraine uncovers embezzlement scheme

The Security Service of Ukraine has uncovered a scheme of embezzlement of funds that were allocated for the purchase of fuel for the needs of the special service in 2022. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing the SBU press service.

According to the investigation, former officials of the Department of Economic Support and its deputy director, who were dismissed from their positions at the initiative of the Head of the SBU Vasyl Maliuk, are involved in organizing this scheme.

During the investigation, it was found that the men were purchasing fuel for the service vehicles and armored vehicles of the Security Service at inflated prices. To do this, they involved several commercial structures in Kyiv that are engaged in the trade of petroleum products.

The former officials provided false information in the financial and accounting documentation. Their actions caused the department more than 26 million hryvnias in damages.

During the searches in the suspects’ residences, over 11 million hryvnias in cash were found. Additionally, unregistered weapons were seized at the addresses of the suspects’ residences and in the offices of affiliated companies.
