Russian propaganda spreads fake news about President Zelensky’s removal
Russian propagandists have once again spread fake news, this time falsely alleging that the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced the removal of President Volodymyr Zelensky from power. The Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security has debunked this claim.
According to the Center, Russian media outlets featured a fake story claiming that representatives of the Main Intelligence Directorate had publicly announced the «exact date of the overthrow of President Zelensky». However, in reality, no such statement was made by military intelligence.
«The disseminated message is a product of the sick imagination of Russian propaganda and part of the Kremlin’s ongoing campaign to discredit President Zelensky,» the publication stated.
The Center emphasized that President Zelensky is the legitimate leader of Ukraine, elected by the people, and continues to fulfill his duties as the guarantor of the Constitution amidst Russia’s full-scale aggression.
In light of this latest misinformation, the Center highlighted previous data from the Main Intelligence Directorate regarding Russia’s attempts to destabilize the sociopolitical situation in Ukraine and its preparation for a special operation known as «Maidan-3».
«The dissemination of these and similar messages aligns with the Intelligence Committee’s warning about Russia’s implementation of the ‘Maidan-3’ special operation to spread destructive narratives,» the statement concluded.
