The Odessa Regional Prosecutor’s Office reports that an indictment has been sent to court against the deputy head of the Fontanka village council in the Odessa region. He is accused of receiving undue benefits for influencing officials responsible for decisions on recognizing draftees as unfit for service and granting deferments from mobilization (part 2 of article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
As a result of the investigation, it was established that the accused headed a working group to monitor mobilization and organized a scheme to obtain illegal benefits by helping military conscripts avoid conscription.
The official’s arrest became possible after he was handed $800 in his office. Preliminarily, the accused received another $4000 at a previous meeting.
Currently, the defendant is in custody. Pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine in the Odessa region and the operational units of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odessa region.
